Aurora Borealis Expected Over North America

Aurora Borealis Expected Over North America

Forecast for Tonight and Tomorrow Night

Best Viewing Times and Locations

Get ready for a spectacular display of the northern lights as a geomagnetic storm is expected to bring the aurora borealis to much of North America tonight and tomorrow night.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Space Weather Prediction Center, a coronal mass ejection (CME) from the sun is heading towards Earth. The CME is expected to interact with Earth's magnetic field, creating a geomagnetic storm that will trigger the aurora.

The best time to see the aurora is between 9 pm and midnight on Saturday night, with some chances until 2 am. The aurora is expected to be visible across much of the northern United States, including Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Maine.

However, the visibility of the aurora depends on several factors, including the strength of the geomagnetic storm, the amount of cloud cover, and the light pollution in your area. If you live in an urban area, you may need to travel to a darker location to get the best views of the aurora.

If you're lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the aurora, you're in for a treat. The aurora is a breathtaking natural phenomenon that can leave a lasting impression.
