The local entertainment community is mourning the loss of Sam Rubin, a respected and connected anchor who brought Los Angeles's glitz and glamour into living rooms for decades. Rubin died on May 10, 2024, at the age of 64.

"Sam was a giant in the local entertainment industry," said KTLA President and General Manager Don Corsini. "He had a deep love for Los Angeles and its people, and he shared that passion with our viewers every night."

Rubin's career spanned more than 40 years, starting as a reporter for the Hollywood Reporter in the early 1980s. He joined KTLA in 1987 and quickly became a fixture on the station's entertainment desk. Rubin's infectious enthusiasm, warm personality, and encyclopedic knowledge of the entertainment world made him a beloved figure among both celebrities and viewers.

In a statement, Perry Sook, founder and CEO of Nexstar, KTLA's majority owner, expressed his condolences: "Sam was a consummate professional who dedicated his life to informing and entertaining our viewers. He will be deeply missed by his colleagues, viewers, and everyone who knew him."
