Deal Keeps Butker in Kansas City Through 2027

Details of the Contract

The Chiefs and kicker Harrison Butker have agreed to a five-year, $20.275 million contract extension, according to multiple reports. Butker's contract includes a $3.5 million signing bonus and $9.1 million guaranteed at signing. The base value of the contract is $20.275 million, with a total vesting guarantee of $9.1 million.

Butker is scheduled to make $4.18 million in 2023, with $700,000 of that paid out as a signing bonus. The Chiefs could save nearly $3 million by cutting Butker after the 2023 season, but they would incur a $6.49 million dead cap hit.

Butker, 27, has been one of the most accurate kickers in the NFL since entering the league in 2017. He has connected on 84.7% of his field goal attempts and 93.3% of his extra point attempts.

Butker's signing is a significant move for the Chiefs, who are looking to build on their Super Bowl LVII victory. Butker is a key part of the Chiefs' offense, and his accuracy and consistency will be vital to their success in the years to come.
